In depth

International Partnerships - One World Action works with around 30 partners in AfricaAsia and Central America. Though diverse in kind, our partners have a common commitment to strengthening local institutions and giving people a say in the decisions that shape their lives.

Our partners are active in a range of areas:

  • strengthening through training citizens’ skills to engage with government and political structures
  • improving the representation of women in local and national government
  • improving women’s access to justice
  • HIV/AIDs
  • providing basic services, such as healthcare, water, sanitation, rubblish collection
  • advocacy on rights, transparency, accountability, service provision, economic policy, trade and aid.

Our Policy Change programme influences policy discussions at the UK and European Union levels by informing policy-makers of the views and experiences of our partners, holding seminars, organising lobby visits for our partners so they can speak for themselves, and networking with others within Europe and globally.

We cover a range of themes:

  • democracy
  • governance
  • rights
  • women’s rights and gender equality
  • basic services
  • disability
  • trade

One World Action sees its programmes and policy work as closely inter-linked

In depth

We work hand in hand with our partner organisations and we influence decision-makers to change policies that affect the poorest communities.

Only by doing both can we help to bring about real change.
